| Requirements and Responsibilities For Power System Dispatch Supervisor |
| Supervises power system dispatching activities to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the transmission and distribution network. Oversees generation, transmission switching, and load-balancing operations in accordance with established procedures and reliability standards. Monitors system conditions and responds to abnormal conditions, contingencies, and emergencies. Coordinates planned and unplanned outages with field personnel, generation operators, and neighboring systems. Ensures dispatch operations comply with NERC reliability standards and applicable regulatory requirements. Trains, coaches, and evaluates dispatch staff and maintains accurate operating logs and documentation. Typically requires an associate degree. May require NERC System Operator Certification. Typically reports to a manager. Supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision. |
