| Requirements and Responsibilities For Power System Dispatch Shift Supervisor |
| Acts as the shift lead for power system dispatchers to maintain the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of the power system. Coordinates generation dispatch, transmission switching, and load-balancing activities during the assigned shift and ensures adherence to operating procedures. Monitors real-time system conditions to ensure a timely response to contingencies, disturbances, and emergencies. Ensures shift operations comply with NERC reliability standards and internal operating protocols. Maintains shift logs, communicates operating conditions across shift handoffs, and provides on-the-job guidance to dispatch personnel. Typically requires an associate degree. May require NERC System Operator Certification. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of the team processes. |
