| Specializes in providing comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients, focusing on their care from admission to discharge. Diagnoses and treats illnesses, coordinates care among specialists, and orders diagnostic tests. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Ensures a smooth transition of care when patients are discharged back to their primary care providers. Requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice. Typically reports to a medical director.
